Mrs. Maria da Conceicao (daSilva) Pires, age 89, of 10 Mt. Hope Avenue, Bristol, died peacefully Thursday, April 21, 2011 at Grace Barker Nursing Center, Warren surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of William Pires, her husband of 64 years. Born in Sao Miguel, Azores a daughter of the late Manuel Moniz and Maria deGloria (Moniz) daSilva. A resident of Bristol for 44 years, she previously resided in Sao Miguel. She was a wire worker at the former Carol Cable Co. in Warren for many years. She was a communicant of St. Elizabeth's Church, Bristol and a member of the choir there for many years. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Maria Eduarda Almeida of Riverside, Amos Pires, Maria Goretti Teixeira and Sanzinha 'Mary' Pires, all of Bristol and Paula Bucci of Warren, seven grandchildren, Kevin Pires, Jason Teixeira, Diane Newton, Connie Arkroyd, Camille Bucci, Matthew Pires and Amos Pires, Jr., three great grandchildren and two sisters, Hortense Marques of Bristol and Lourdes Correia of Sao Miguel, Azores. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Manuel Moniz daSilva, John Moniz Cabral and Jose Moniz Cabral and a sister, Olivia Moniz. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at 9:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Elizabeth's Church, 577 Wood Street, Bristol. Burial will follow in North Burial Ground, Hope Street, Bristol. Visiting hours Monday, April 25, 2011 from 4:00 - 7:00 PM.
