Mrs Margaret Gertrude Sousa

Mrs. Margaret Gertrude (Greene) Sousa, age 89 of 990 Hope Street, Bristol, died Saturday, October 8, 2011 at Roger Williams Medical Center, Providence, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Arthur P. Sousa, her husband of 70 years. Born in Bristol and a lifelong resident, she was a daughter of the late Harold S. and Annie (White) Greene. She was a graduate of Colt Memorial High School, Class of 1940. Margaret started her work career at the former Rhee Elastics Company in Warren, staying there through several ownership changes for over 40 years, retiring a number of years ago. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, Bristol. She loved to travel, was an avid read and just spending time with her loving family. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son Robert J. Sousa and his wife, AnnDee and a daughter, Sharon Wollschlager and her husband, Warren all of Bristol, six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and a great great grandson and a sister, Mary Lou Hackmann of Miami, FL. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Arthur Peter Sousa and a daughter-in-law, Helga M. Sousa, a brother, Harold S. Greene, Jr., and two sisters, Jane Ingram and Elizabeth Anne Sawyer. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial, Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at 9:00 AM in St. Mary's Church, 330 Wood Street, Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Monday, October 10 from 4:00-7:00 PM in the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol.
