Mrs Lucinda Raposa

Mrs. Lucinda (Silvia) Raposa, age 86, of 16 Rosita Avenue, Bristol, died Saturday, September 24, 2011 at the Miriam Hospital, Providence, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late James Raposa, Sr., her husband of 51 years, who died in 1998. Born in Bristol and a lifelong resident, she was a daughter of the late Manuel C. and Theresa (Faria) Silvia. A homemaker, she worked for Converse Rubber Co., formerly in Bristol during WWII to help with the war effort. She was a communicant of St. Elizabeth's Church, Bristol and loved spending time in her gardens and bird watching. She is survived by three children, Sandra Horta and her husband, Armand, Jr., James Raposa, Jr. and Ronald Raposa, all of Bristol, three grandchildren, Armand Horta, III and Eileen Crowley, both of Warren and Brian J. Horta of Bristol, two great grandsons, Aaron J. and Kyle Davis, and two brothers, Edward Silvia of Titusville, FL and Joseph Silvia of New Bedford, MA. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Samantha Davis, two brothers, Manuel C. Silvia, Jr., and Antonio Silvia and three sisters, Angelina Moniz, Mary Medeiros and Emily Soares. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Thursday, September 29, 2011 at 9:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Elizabeth's Church, 577 Wood Street, Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Chesntut Street, Bristol. Visiting hours, Wednesday, September 28, 2011 from 4:00-8:00 PM.
