Mrs. Leonora D. (Costa) Lannan-Silvia, age 82, of 1014 Hope Street, Bristol, died Friday, May 7, 2010 at Rhode Island Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late William Silvia. Born and raised in Bristol, she was a daughter of the late Anthony E. and Elizabeth (Pacheco) Costa. A resident of Bristol for most of her life she also resided in Warren for a number of years and she was a graduate of Colt Memorial High School, Class of 1945. A hairdresser she was the owner-operator of the former Cut and Curl Salon of Beauty in Bristol for many years until retiring. She was a communicant of St. Marys Church and a member of the Harbor Lights Group at the church. She was an avid artist, loved working in her gardens, a member of the Red Hat Society and she was the current vice president of the board of directors of the Benjamin Church Manor Senior Center in Bristol. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and had a great love for all children. She is survived by a son, John M. Lannan and his wife Patricia of Bristol, two grandchildren, Christopher J. Lannan (P.F.D.) and his wife, Melissa of Providence, Heidi L. DaSilva and her husband David of Riverside, two step-grandsons, Robert and Christopher Cameron, four great grandchildren, C.J. and Devin P. Lannan and Matthew D. and Emma J. DaSilva, a brother, Gilbert A. Costa of Chittenango, NY and a sister, Elizabeth Costa Lopes of Bristol and her close friend and soul mate George Cooper. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Eileen Costa Baril. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Monday, October 10, 2010 at 8:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 AM in St. Marys Church, 330 Wood Street, Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visiting hours Sunday, May 9 from 4:00-8:00 PM.
