Mrs. Janet M. Mello

Mrs. Janet M. (Sousa) Mello, age 76, of 77 Wood Street, Bristol, died Sunday, January 26, 2014 at her home. She was the wife of George Mello, her husband of 49 years. Born and raised in Providence on Smith Hill, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Marie (Sullivan) Sousa. Janet was a graduate of St. Patrick's High School and was a staff accountant for Rhode Island Hospital, Providence for 43 years, retiring in 1996. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, Bristol and was a member of the Bristol and Warren Senior Citizens Centers, a member of the Red Hat Society and the Royal Travelers of Fall River, MA. In addition to her husband, she is survived by several cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Saturday, February, 1, 2014 at 8:30 AM to a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM in St. Mary's Church, 330 Wood Street, Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visiting hours Friday, January 31, 2014 from 4:00-7:00 PM.
