Mrs Helena Martins

Mrs. Helena (Mota) Martins, age 96 of Bristol, died peacefully Monday, November 17, 2014 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Luis Dias Martins, who preceded her in death in 2006. Born in San Mateo, CA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Victoria (Lucas) Mota. A resident of Bristol since 1951, moving here from Sao Miquel, Acores. Helena worked as a machine operator for the Converse Rubber Company, formerly in Bristol for 25 years, retiring in the early 1970's, she previously worked at the former Bristol Manufacturing Co. and Carr Fulflex Corp. A Communicant of St. Elizabeth's Church and a member of the Holy Rosary Sodality, Helena loved to cook, crochet and spend many hours enjoying her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and her entire family. Helena is survived by her three children, Dr. Nelson Martins (Bernice) of Greenville, Mary C. Brennan (Dr. James) and Helena Sheusi (James) both of Bristol, five grandchildren, Tara Primis, Mikala Stewart, Nicole, Nathan and Neal Sheusi, six great grandchildren, Samuel, Luke and Helen Primis, Efram, Asher and Noa Stewart. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Antonio and Lucas Mota and two sisters, Maria Belchior and Isabelle Rego. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Thursday, November 20, 2014 at 10:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in St. Elizabeth's Church, 577 Wood Street, Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visiting hours, Wednesday, November 19, 2014 from 4:00-7:00 PM.
