Mrs. Ernestine E. "Cookie" Lopes

Mrs. Ernestine Cookie (Estrella) Lopes, age 104 of Dawn Hill Home for Rehab & Healthcare, and formerly of 43 Church Street, Bristol died Saturday, November 9, 2024. She was the wife of the late Manuel A. Lopes, Jr., who preceded her in death in 1997. Born in Bristol and a lifelong resident, she was a daughter of the late Joseph S. and Virginia (Costa) Estrella. Tina was a graduate of Colt Memorial High School and a Stitcher for many years at US Rubber Co., Converse Rubber Co. and Miner Industries, all formerly of Bristol, until her retirement. She was a communicant of St. Elizabeths Church, Bristol. Tina was an accomplished artist, loved to work in both Water Colors and Oil Painting and loved to draw especially in charcoal. She loved time spent with family and loved to bake for the holidays and family events. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Louis Estrella and sisters, Isabelle Velleca, Mary Navach Mooney, Angelina Celone and Dorothy A. Negro. Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation Saturday, November 16 at 9:30-10:30AM in the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in St. Elizabeths Church, 577 Wood Street, Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol.
