Mrs Doris A. De Wolf

Mrs. Doris A. (Bertrand) de Wolf, age 78, of 30 Acacia Road, Bristol, died Monday, May 2, 2011 at her home surrounded by her loving husband and family. She was the wife of Francois L. de Wolf, Jr., her husband of 55 years. Born in Providence and a lifelong resident of Bristol, she was a daughter of the late James A. Bertrand and Marjorie Bertrand Weaver. Doris was a graduate of Colt Memorial High School, Bristol, Class of 1951 and attended classes at Rhode Island School of Design in Providence. She worked for several years for the former Hospital Trust Co. Bank before raising her family. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother, who enjoyed decorating her home, flower arranging, gardening, cooking and baking. She was an avid reader and loved playing cards with family and friends. Doris strongly believed in community and neighborhood and was a member of the Bristol Highlands Improvement Association organizing events for them including the Lobster Boil, May Breakfast and children's field day and was a longtime poll worker for the Bristol Board of Canvassers. She spent endless days enjoying time at the Highlands Beach with her sons. In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons, Bradford L. de Wolf and his wife Wendy of Bristol, Brian L. de Wolf and his wife Joan of Falmouth, Maine and James L. de Wolf and his wife Shari of Bristol, her sister, Betty Rene and her husband Ron of Warren and her beloved grandchildren, Marc, Kit, Grace, Andrew, Chris, Olivia, Matthew and Joshua. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Bradford L. de Wolf, Jr. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service in celebration of her life on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at 10:00 AM in the First Congregational Church of Bristol, 281 High Street, Bristol. Burial will be private. Visiting hours will be Monday, May 9 from 4:00-7:00 PM in the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol.
