Mrs. Doris A. (Murgo) Moskala, age 89, of Paull Street, Bristol, died peacefully Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Theodore J. Moskala, her husband of 60 years, who preceded her in death in October of 2022. Born in Bristol and a lifelong resident, she was a daughter of the late Gaetano and Ermelinda (Cupolo) Murgo. Doris was a graduate of Colt Memorial High School, Class of 1952 where she participated in many sports including basketball, which was her favorite. She went on to graduate from the Quincy City Hospital School of Nursing in Quincy, MA. While at school in Quincy she met Ted from Aliquippa, PA, the love of her life, while he was stationed in Quincy with the US Navy. Doris was a Registered Nurse and worked at the Rhode Island Veterans Home in Bristol, and then for many years at the Bristol County Medical Center until retiring. She was an active Communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Bristol, where her father was one of the founding members of the parish. She received all her Sacraments there and was a longtime Feast Volunteer. Doris had a great love for her family, dancing, evenings out at the Elks with her husband Ted, spending time with her children and grandchildren, and family days at the beach. Her and Ted enjoyed traveling, especially trips to Florida to visit family who always welcomed them with open arms. Doris loved to exercise, which included going to the gym, walking and biking. She especially loved going to her grandchildrens many athletic games, school plays, and performances. She enjoyed gathering together and visiting with her family for holidays, and celebrating the Italian traditions of baking, including making wine and pepper biscuits and many other Italian family favorites. Forty-Nine years ago Doris and her brothers and sisters began the tradition of the Murgo Family Day, which gathers the entire family together every August. Doris also loved all of her extended family in Pennsylvania, who accepted her as one of their own. She is survived by her children, Maria Mosher (John), Theodore J. Moskala, Jr. (Linda), and Christopher J. Moskala, all of Bristol and grandchildren, Allison Mosher, Ben Mosher (Emily) Theodore J. Moskala, III, Eric Moskala, Johnny Mosher and Maxwell Moskala. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and a host of friends. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by all her siblings, Paul, Michael, John and Rudy Murgo, Philomena Pezzullo, Lucy Murgo and Antonetta Francis. Funeral Services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at 9:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State Street, Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visiting hours will be Monday, August 26, 2024 from 4:00-7:00 PM.
