Mrs Beverly L. Smith

Beverly L. (Luther) Smith, age 93, of Bristol, passed away on Monday, December 24, 2012 at The Miriam Hospital, Providence. She was the wife of the late D. Lloyd Smith. Born in Barrington, RI she was a daughter of the late Frederick and Joann (Harris) Luther. Beverly was a homemaker. Throughout much of her life, Beverly was active in numerous organizations including: Sowams Garden Club (past president and Bird Chairman), Order Of The Eastern Star (past Matron and Grand Marshall) Amaranth, White Shrine, Ladies Auxiliary, Rebekahs (past Noble Grand). Her other interests included reading the newspaper, gardening, cooking and watching golf, football and baseball on TV, rooting for her beloved Patriots and Red Sox. Beverly was a fountain of information and was always quick to provide thoughtful and wise advise to her children. Most recently, Beverly was an avid bird watcher through her window view of the numerous feeders around her house. She will be remembered for her great patience and good humor despite health issues over the past 5 years. She will be greatly missed by those she is survived by, her seven children, Donald L. Smith of Magnolia, MS, Dwight C. Smith of Sandston, VA, Douglas E. Smith of Pittsburgh, PA, Cheryl A. Smith of Bristol, Rodney B. Smith of Vinal Haven, ME, Alden K. Smith of Rehoboth, MA, and Holly J. Smith of Bristol. Also survived by twelve grandchildren and two great grandchildren and a brother, A brother Walter Luther of Shelby, NC. In addition to her husand and parents, she was preceded in death by a grandchild, brothers and sisters, Charles, Bert, and Bruce Luther, Marcia (Luther) Avila and Vivian Luther, who died in infancy.
