Mrs. Beatrice O. (Oliver) Redies, age 88,of 2001 Welch Court, Ann Arbor, Michigan, died Monday, February 23, 2015 at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence. She was the wife of the late Douglas E. Redies, who she met while he served in the US Navyand was stationed inNewport. After their marriage in 1954, they moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan, and were married for 15 years prior to his death in 1969. Born and raised in Bristol on Poppasquash Point, she was a daughter of the late Manuel P. and Mary (Perry) Oliver. Shegraduated from Colt Memorial High School in 1944, and Rhode Island College in 1948 with a Bachelor of Education. A resident of Ann Arbor for 60 years, Beatrice returned to Rhode Island in 2012 to help support with her sister's care. An Elementary School Teacher, Beatrice taught in her early career for the Bristol School System and then for the Ann Arbor School System for a number of years. For several years prior to her retirement, she was an Office Assistant with her husband's family business, R&B Machine Tool Company in Saline, Michigan. She was an communicant of St. Thomas The Apostle Church in Ann Arbor, MI and was an avid New England Patriots and a Detroit Redwings fan. Beatrice will be fondly remembered for her care for others, generosity, and as a lover of children, animals and nature. She is survived by a son, Mark D. Redies (Kathy) of Pinckney, Michigan, a daughter, Dale E. Redies (Dave Tamminga) of Tucson, Arizona, a grandson, Nicholas C. Redies of Miami, Florida, five step grandchildren, Billy, Jake and Samantha Roush and Justin and Alana Tamminga, two sisters, Mary Oliver of Warren and Geraldine Morra of Bristol, brother-in lawRobert Rediesand sister-in-lawPatricia Redies, both of Michigan, as well asnieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Edmund D., George and Roger Oliver. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, March 2, in St. Elizabeth's Church, 577 Wood Street, Bristol. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery in Ann Arbor, MI.
