Mrs. Anna M. Carre

May 28, 1924 — December 9, 2023

Mrs. Anna M. "Auntie Anna" Carre, age 99 of 17 Jennifer Drive, Bristol, died peacefully Saturday, December 9, 2023. Anna was the devoted wife of John Carre for 62 years until his death in 2013. She was born in Bristol on May 28, 1924 and was the daughter of the late Michele and Maria Antone (Romanelli) Ruggiero. Anna graduated from Colt Memorial High School class of 1943. She was an office worker at US Rubber which became Kaiser Aluminum. She then worked at the Bristol Medical Center. When John was promoted they moved to New Jersey and then to the Chicago area. When they returned to Rhode Island in 1989 they lived in Barrington and resided there for 23 years. Finally moving back to Bristol where she was surrounded by her loving family. Auntie Anna was a very special person, she loved her family and would always return to Bristol every Christmas and the 4th of July, she would never miss these two very special days. Auntie Anna was devoted to her nieces, nephews, great nieces & nephews and great great nieces & nephews, in fact her license plate was AAUJ. She loved to attend their sports games, from football, soccer, lacrosse, wrestling, basketball, baseball and dance recitals. For many years both Auntie Anna & Uncle John volunteered at the concession stand at Mt. Hope High School. In no time at all the students all called her Auntie Anna, (she loved it). She got to know many of these young kids by name and if she saw them out and about and they gave her a hug they would often find a $5 bill in their pocket. The only thing Auntie Anna was more devoted to than her family was her Faith and church at Our Lady of Mount Carmel. She prayed the rosary every day along with many, many novenas. She prayed for her family and anyone else that she heard was sick or struggling with problems. One of the nicest things that Auntie Anna did was to write people hand-written notes of encouragement and prayer, often sending a note a week to those undergoing cancer treatment or other ailments. She had a special devotion to the Blessed Mother and St. Anthony. Anna helped to run the doughboy booth at the 16th of July feast as well as the 10-10 club. She was a member of the Rosary Altar Society and a former communicant of Holy Angels Church in Barrington. She was a huge fan of Notre Dame Football and attended many home games when she and John lived in Illinois. In addition to all of her many nieces and nephews, she is survived by her sisters, Jenny DiPippo (the late Alfred) of Aliquippa, PA and Leonora Delmage (William) of Bristol. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her sisters, Lena Proto (the late Edward), Nancy Colardo (the late Jimmy) and Martha Andrade (the late Joseph). Although we will miss our "Golden Girl", (a huge fan) she will forever be a shining light in our hearts. She taught us all what was important in life, Prayer, Faith and Family.
