Mrs Alice T. Moniz

Mrs. Alice T. (Almeida) Moniz, age 88, of Detroit Avenue, Warren, died peacefully Friday, December 9, 2011 at her home. She was the wife of the late Thomas P. Moniz. Born and raised in Bristol and a Warren resident for many years, she was a daughter of the late Frank C. and Maria Isabelle (Andrade) Almeida. Alice was an assembler for the former Smith's Manufacturing Company, Converse Rubber, US Rubber Co., and finally for Kaiser Aluminum Corp. for many years, retiring a number of years ago. She was a communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Warren. Alice is survived by her two daughters, Mary Jane Sousa and her husband, John, and Elizabeth Ann Griffith and her husband Michael, all of Warren, four grandchildren, John Phillip and his wife Jennifer, Mary Elizabeth Sousa, Evan M. and Gregory J. Griffith. Also survived by all of her caregivers who became like part of her family, who her daughters are so thankful to for the great care she received by them. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Thomas P. Moniz, Jr., two brothers, Herman and Frank Almeida and a sister, Sophie Santos. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at 9:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 500 Metacom Avenue, Warren. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visiting hours Monday from 4:00-8:00 PM.
