Mrs Alice Ruth Correia

Mrs. Alice Ruth (Fazio) Correia, age 87 of Harbor View Avenue, Bristol, died Monday, December 9, 2013 in the Grace Barker Nursing Center, Warren. She was the wife of the late Commander Dr. Frank B. Correia and survived by his sons, Karl Correia of Bristol and Claude Correia of Rehoboth, MA. Born in Fall River, MA and raised in Somerset, MA., she was the daughter of the late Thomas J. and Lila (Lockett) Fazio. A resident of Bristol for 30 years, she previously resided in Somerset. Alice was a Secondary Science Teacher for the Somerset School System for 30 years, retiring in 1982. She was a communicant of St. Michael's Episcopal Church, Bristol, and an avid gardener, with a love for roses, she was a member and a past President of the Bayberry Garden Club in Bristol. Alice also had a great love for music, she played the piano and sang for a number of years with the Bristol Senior Chorus. She was devoted to animals especially all her pet cats and dogs. A classic lady, she loved the opportunities also to dress up and will be remembered for her hats and gloves collection. Even later in life, learning was an important part of Alice, as a teacher, and she challenged herself to learn and speak Italian. In addition to Frank's sons, she is survived by several cousins and many dear friends including her caregivers, Robert J. Healey, Jr., of Barrington and Nancy E. Dobie and Susan A. Barros, both of Bristol. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Requiem Eucharist Service in Celebration of her life on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at 11:00 AM in St. Michael's Episcopal Church, 399 Hope Street, Bristol. Burial will be private and visiting hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael's Episcopal Church, P.O.
