Mr. William H. Morey, Jr., age 84 of Reservoir Avenue, Bristol, died Saturday, June 22, 2024 at Newport Hospital. He was the husband of Maria (Santos) Morey, his wife of 62 years. Born in Detroit, Michigan, a son of the late William H., Sr. and Marietta Morey. Following his graduation from High School, William entered the US Navy during the Vietnam Era and served aboard the USS Brownson and the USS Snowden. He was a resident of Bristol for 62 years. Following his Navy service he went to work as a Wire Worker in the Stranding Dept. for 20 years for the Kaiser Aluminum and Chemical Corp. in both their Bristol and Portsmouth Plants. Following the closing of Kaiser, William was employed by Dixon Corp (now Saint Gobain Performance Plastics) in Bristol and Royal Diversified in Warren retiring in 2003. Following his retirement he worked part time for several years at Bristol Toyota, as a runner, bring customers to and from the dealership with appointments. William was a history buff, a passion which he received from his dad and passed it on to his son, Clifford. He was a collector of US coins, an avid reader, loving murder mysteries, suspense novels, western stories, with some of his favorite authors, Louis LAmour, James Patterson, Dean Koontz, Clive Cussler, Robert Ludlom and David Baldacci. He enjoyed reading the Bridge column in the Providence Journal. He loved watching and keeping up with the news and current events. William enjoyed movies at the Showcase Cinema in Seekonk, MA on senior night, watching action and drama movies, some science fiction like Star Wars and Star Trek, Marvel series produced by Disney studios, enjoying these movie nights with his son, Cliff. William loved to tinker and was very good with hand tools and power tools. He was very proud of the storage shelves in his basement, which has lasted for years. He was an avid sports fan, loved supporting the NE Patriots Football and most football games, the Boston Red Soxs and always enjoying going to games with his son, with trips to Fenway in Boston and to the Pawsox games when they were in Pawtucket, and in later years Providence Bruins games. He enjoyed going with his family to RI Philharmonic Orchestra concerts at Vets Memorial Auditorium, as well as Trinity Rep to see Christmas Carol and PPAC for the traveling show of the New York City Rockettes in 2010. William in his younger day enjoyed vacationing with his wife and son to Boston, New York City, Washington, DC, Niagara Falls, Toronto, Canada and always enjoyed visiting family in Detroit MI. In addition to his wife Maria, he is survived by a son, Clifford W. Morey of Bristol, and two sisters, Aida "Edie" Fournier and Betty Hashim, both of Shelby Twp, MI and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial, Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 11:00 AM in St. Elizabeths Church, 577 Wood Street, Bristol. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. Kindly Omit Flowers.
