Mr William E. Jones

GMGC William E. Jones, US Navy Retired, age 82 of the Rhode Island Veterans Home, 480 Metacom Avenue, Bristol, died Thursday, August 1, 2013 at the home. He was the husband of the late Pauline (Gammino) Jones. Born in Savannah, Georgia he was the son of the late Willie B. and Ruby L. (Farell) Jones. William was a Bristol resident for many years. Mr. Jones was a Chief Gunner's Mate G in the US Navy for 29 years, retiring in 1977 serving in both the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. He is survived by three children, Cynthia Lou Jones and Marcie Jones of Bristol and Bill Jones, Jr., of Savannah, GA, a brother, Tony Jones and a sister, Carolyn Drawdy, both of Savannah, GA, four grandchildren, five great grandchildren and his Godson, Michael L. Haskell and his long time friend, Nancy A. Haskell, both of Bristol. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jackie Shuman. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Visitation in the Chapel of the RI Veterans Home, 480 Metacom Avenue, Bristol, Friday, August 9, 2013 from 2:00-3:00 PM with Military Honors to take place at 3:00 PM in the Courtyard of the RI Veterans Home.
