Sergeant First Class Thomas W. McCaughey, US Army Retired, age 69 of Catherine Street, Bristol, died Thursday, September 8, 2011 at his home. Born in Fall River, MA and raised and a lifelong resident of Bristol, he was a son of the late Henry T. and Helen L. (Remieres) McCaughey. Tom served in the US Army for 20 years retiring in 1981 and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a life member of the VFW and the American Legion and a member of the First Baptist Church of Bristol. He is survived by two sisters, Beth Cordeiro and her husband Ed, and Peg Desmarais and her husband Bob, all of Bristol, four nieces, Karen Cordeiro, Deborah Shears, Candace Ferreira and Kim Almeida and a nephew, Sean Ramsay, Great Nephews and Great Nieces, Keith Gomes, Shannon LaRiviere, Wayne Almeida, Ashley and Kiley Ramsay, and Great Great Nephew, Keith Gomes, Jr. and Great Great Niece, Aiyana Almeida. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Roberta Lynn 'Robin' Russell. Relatives and Friends are invited to attend a Graveside Service with Military Honors, Saturday, September 17, 2011 at 12:00 Noon in the Cremation Garden at North Burial Ground, Hope Street (Route 114) and Colt Drive, Bristol, RI.
