Mr. Sarkis Aproian, age 90 of the Rhode Island Veterans Home, 480 Metacom Avenue, Bristol, died Friday, February 14, 2014 at the home, surrounded by his loving family. Born and raised in Providence, he was a son of the late Manoot and Margaret (Tashoian) Aproian. A resident of Bristol for several years, he previously resided on Gemini Drive in East Providence. Sarkis served in the US Coast Guard during WWII and following the war, he was a crewman for the Merchant Marines for many years. He is survived by a son, Ronald Aproian, a sister, Queenie Mortensen of St. Petersburg, FL and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and a host of wonderful friends at the RI Veterans Home. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Aproian and three brothers, Richard, Marty and Milton Aproian. Relatives and friend are invited to attend a visitation Tuesday, February 18, 2014 from 9:00-10:00 AM in the Chapel of the Rhode Island Veterans Home, 480 Metacom Avenue, Bristol, with a prayer service at 10 AM and Military Honors at 10:15 AM in the Courtyard of the RI Veterans Home. Burial will follow in North Burial Ground, Providence at 11:15 AM.
