Salvatore A. 'Sal' Abate, 64, of Orchard Street, Bristol, died Saturday, October 19, 2013 at his home with his family by his side. He was the loving husband Sarah (Tattrie) Abate, his wife of 41 years. Born in Providence, and a lifelong Bristol resident, he was a son of the late Francisco and Mary (Cote) Abate. Sal owned and operated Sal's Auto Body in Bristol for 35 years before retiring. He was a member of St. Michael's Episcopal Church, he served in the Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He loved cooking for his family, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Kimberly M. Levesque and her husband Marc of Bristol and Jennifer L. Abate of Cranston, four granddaughters, Kaitlin Abate, Sawyer Levesque, Logan Levesque and Addison Abate, a sister, Frances Jones and her husband Lee of Alexandria, VA and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at 9:00 AM with a Requiem Eucharist Service at 10:00 AM in St. Michael's Episcopal Church, 399 Hope Street, Bristol. Burial with Military Honors will follow in North Burial Ground, Hope Street, Bristol. Visiting hours Tuesday from 4:00-8:00 PM.
