Mr Robert P. Ironfield

Mr. Robert P. Ironfield, age 84 of 1168 Hope Street, Bristol, died Tuesday, January 10, 2012 in Rhode Island Hospital, Providence, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Rose M. (Millemaggi) Ironfield, his wife of 55 years. Born in Somerset, MA and a resident of Bristol for 55 years, he was a son of the late Richard and Mary Ann (Foulds) Ironfield. He was a graduate of Somerset High School and served in the US Navy during WWII as a Seaman First Class on the USS Duplin in the Pacific Theatre. He worked as a Meat Cutter for the former Almac's Grocery Stores for 34 years before retiring a number of years ago. He also was a motion picture operator for movie theaters in Springfield, Fall River and Seekonk, MA for many years. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Bristol, a member of the Anthony C. Almeida Post # 237, VFW, the Meat Cutters Local #328 and the Motion Picture Operators Local # 424 I.A.T.S.E. Bob is survived in addition to his wife, by a daughter Mary Ann Metivier and her husband Rene of Bristol, a son, Richard P. Ironfield of Warren and a granddaughter, Melissa A. Metivier of Bristol. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Arthur Ironfield. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial, Saturday, January 14, 2012 at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State Street, Bristol. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
