Mr. Raymond J. Desmarais

Raymond J. Desmarais, age 93 of Bristol died Saturday, February 27, 2010 at RI Hospital, Providence. He was the husband of the late Emma (Costa) Desmarais and Roberta (Anderson) Desmarais. Born in Warren, RI he was a son of the late Abraham and Rose Delima (Emery) Desmarais. He is survived by his daughter, Sandra Abilheira and her husband, Anthony of Bristol Three grandsons, Anthony B. Abilheira, Jr., Andrew B. Abilheira and Adam B. Abilheira, two great grandchildren, Joseph and Isabella Abilheira. Ray was the owner of the former Desmarais Plumbing & Heating in Warren before retiring in 1974 he also worked as a plumber at Rhode Island Hospital till 1979. He was a WW II US Navy Veteran serving in the Seabees. He was a member of the Bristol County Elks # 1860, former member Bristol County Lions and a avid golfer and a member of the Wednesday morning bowling league at Dudeks Bowling Ally in Warren. He was preceded in death in addition to his two wives and parents, by a brother, Archie Desmarais and three sisters, Olivine Gauthier, Gertrude Lemoi and Gabrielle Dutelle. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at 10:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in St. Marys Church, 330 Wood Street, Bristol. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visitation will be Tuesday morning only from 9:00-10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bristol Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 775, Bristol, RI 02809.
