Mr Neil Joseph Aronne

Neil Joseph Aronne, 79, of Portsmouth, Rhode Island died March 28, 2012 at the Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach. Mr. Aronne was born November 7, 1932 in New York, NY. , he was a son of the late Anneillo 'Red' and Pauline 'Lillian' (Iacovino) Aronne. He had been a resident of Vero Beach for 30 years, coming from Rhode Island. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Prior to his retirement he worked as a school teacher for over 35 years in Barrington, RI. He was a New York Yankee fanatic was seldom seen without his familiar cap. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Bristol.He was also a member at Saint Helen Catholic Church in Vero Beach. He volunteered at Bristol Good Neighbors Soup Kitchen and Pantry in Bristol and also at soup kitchens in the Vero Beach area. Survivors include his sons, David and his wife Norma, and Tim and his wife Barbara, daughters, Jane and her husband Kerry Horan, Beth; sister, Theresa and brother-in-law, Tom Velleca, three grandchildren, Vanessa, Grace and David, many nieces, nephews and many special and caring friends. Neil is also survived by his wife, Sandra Spoto, his long time companion, he had recently married and also survived by his former wife, Barbara Ann Codega. Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, April 12, 2012 at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State Street, Bristol. Burial with Military Honors will follow in North Burial Ground, Hope Street, Bristol.A gathering for friends and family will held Wednesday, April 11 from 4-8 PM at the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol.
