Mr. Michael Henry Campbell, age 73 of Sousa Street, Bristol, died peacefully Monday December 21, 2015 at his home, surround by his loving wife and family. He was the husband of Regina “Gena” (Raposa) Campbell, his wife of 54 years. Born in Fall River, MA and raised in Warren, he was a son of the late Merrill and Virginia (Burns) Campbell. A graduate of Warren High School and Rogers William College, Michael was a Mechanical Engineer for 15 years for the Osram Sylvania Corp. in Central Falls, retiring in 2004. He had previously worked at Raytheon Corporation and Hasbro Toys. A communicant of St. Elizabeths Church, Bristol, and Michael was a member of the Bristol County Lodge of Elks and the Bristol County Lions Club, as well as an active member of the Bristol Yacht Club. He was an avid sailor winning many regattas and awards, while mentoring many young sailors. He also loved skiing in NH at Loon Mountain with family and friends. Michael was the co-founder of the St. Elizabeth Church basketball league as well as a founding member and former board member of Warren Youth Soccer with his daughter Donna. He also served as a longtime coach and manager in the King Phillip Little League and All-Star teams in Bristol. Michael was President of the Bristol Jaycees, where he was awarded outstanding man of the year in Rhode Island and was bestowed as an International Jaycee lifetime member. During his professional career he was a member and past president of the Rhode Island Engineering Society. As a member of the Republican Party, Michael was a former Bristol Town Councilman and a past Council President. In 1997 he and his wife, Gena were presented with the Bristol Distinguished Service award for outstanding service to the community. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Donna Ramos Razza (Paul) of Warren, Kimberly McCallum and Michael A. Campbell, both of Bristol, four grandchildren, Corrie DaLuz, Bethany Francis, Sarah Ramos and Paul Tyler Ramos, five great grandchildren, Beilah, Jaden, Landyn, Avery and Ashtyn, and a brother, Merrill Campbell (Mary) of West Warwick. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Campbell. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Monday, December 28, 2015 at 10:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in St. Elizabeths Church, 577 Wood Street, Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visiting hours will be Sunday, December 27, 2015 from 2:00-6:00 PM.
