Ludwig G. Cavallaro, 85, of 875 Hope Street, Bristol, passed away Saturday, July 16, 2011 at the St. Elizabeths Manor in Bristol. Born in Bristol and a lifelong resident, he was a son of the late Joseph and Rose M. (Cavallaro) Cavallaro. Louis was a Chef at the former Metacom Manor Nursing Home in Bristol for many years before his retirement in 1987. He was involved with the State of Rhode Island CETA Program for many years in which he trained youths in the cooking profession. He was also involved with the Meals on Wheels Program serving seniors throughout Bristol County for more than 10 years. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church and a baseball fan. He is survived by his nephew, Frederick D. “Bud” Souza and his wife Sandra J. of Bristol; his devoted cousin Anthony Guida and his wife Rosemary of Warren, his niece Louanne Warrender of Bristol and a brother-in-law Frederick Souza of Warren. He is also survived by his great nephews and great nieces, Ashleigh Warrender, Ryan Souza, Elise Warrender, Jared Souza and Oliver Warrender. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Antoinette “Etta” Souza Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Thursday at 9:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State St., Bristol. Visiting hours Thursday Morning 8:30-9:00 AM. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Elizabeths Manor “Activities Fund”, 1 Dawn Hill., Bristol, RI 02809.
