Mr Leo F. Sullivan

Mr. Leo F. Sullivan of Windward Lane, Bristol, RI and Ormond Beach, FL passed away on Tuesday, July 20, 2010.He was the husband of the late Elizabeth M. “Bette” Sullivan for 57 years.Born in Providence to the late George F. and Margaret (Kennedy) Sullivan, he grew up in Providence and graduated from Classical High School and the University of Rhode Island, class of 1950. While at URI, he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity and a member of the Rams football team. Leo was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving in World War II. After graduation from URI, he was employed by General Electric in Stratford, CT. Leo and Bette joined Bettes brother Eugene to operate The Lobster Pot restaurant in Bristol, when her parents retired. After some 30 years, they sold the restaurant to the current owner. Leo was an avid golfer and a member of Wanumetonomy Golf Club in Middletown, RI for over 50 years. In 2009, he received an honorary membership. He was also a member of the Oceanside Country Club in Ormond Beach. Leo was well loved by all who knew him. He is survived by his nieces and nephews, several great nieces and great nephews and many special friends. In addition to Bette, he was predeceased by his brothers George and Roy and sister Rita Troll. Funeral Services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Saturday, July 24 at 9:00 AM with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Marys Church, Bristol. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Juniper Hill Cemetery, Bristol. Visiting hours will be Friday, July 23 from 4:00-7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Elizabeths Manor “Barn Fund”, 1 Dawn Hill Road, Bristol, RI 02809.
