Mr Joseph A. Mcginn

Mr. Joseph A. McGinn, age 90, of Beach Road, Bristol, died Saturday, November 6, 2010 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Ann C. (Chatterton) McGinn. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late James B. and Mary (Cummings) McGinn. Mr. McGinn worked for the Department of Employment Security in Providence for 26 years before retiring in 1986. He previously worked for the Curtis Publishing Company. Mr. McGinn served in the US Navy during WWII as a Gunner's Mate 2nd Class serving aboard the USS Tuscaloos. He graduated from Central High School, Providence and was a communicant of St. Mary of the Bay Church, Warren and was an avid gardener. He is survived by three daughters, Joan McGinn of Bristol, Mary M. Gortzig and her husband, Christopher of Milford, MA and Ann L. Costa of Bristol, a son, Michael J. McGrinn and his Michelle of Lenoir, NC, a brother, Robert F. McGinn of Bristol and a sister, Sr. Alice R. McGinn, MM of Providence. Also survived by his granddogs, Cassie, Zoe, Zues, Zack and Bailey and a grandkitty, Woody. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Ann McGinn, a sister, Mary C. O'Connor and four brothers, Vincent P., Edwin C., and James D. McGinn and the Rev. John A. McGinn, MM. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at 10:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in St. Mary of the Bay Church, 645 Main Street, Warren. Burial with Military Honors will follow in North Burial Ground, Hope Street, Bristol. Visiting hours Wednesday morning from 8:30 - 10:00 AM.
