Joseph Faria Jr. "Joe Bristol" Joe would like to let you know that his work here is done. He received a call, a sort of an offer you cant refuse. His new mission takes him to a wonderful place where he will be socializing, cooking, gardening, playing bocce, cards and practical jokes all day. Good food, laughter and love are guaranteed. The food is delicious and you never gain an ounce. Joe passed away peacefully Sept 20, 2018 after a long illness. Beloved husband of Victoria (Reynolds) Faria for 49 years, son of the late Joseph D. and Mary Lourdes (Francis) Faria, lifelong residents of Bristol, RI. Brother of Mary Ellen Dwyer (Ted) & Magdalen "Madge" Chianese both of Bristol, and Norman J. Faria (Tracy Spaulding) of Newport, RI, his brother-in-law, James E. Reynolds, Jr. of Bristol, and several nieces and nephews. Joe worked for the Town of Bristol and then retired in 2015 from the RI Department of Labor and Training. Joes greatest passion was cooking and he was the chef for many fundraisers and organizations, donating his time and energy for many good causes. Joe may be best remembered as a lifelong jokester to all his family, and his countless friends. Very politically active, his whole life, he was also a member of many civic organizations including a communicant of St. Elizabeth's Church, a Life Member of the Bristol Volunteer Fire Department Hydraulion Engine & Hose Co. No. 1 and a Past Secretary for the Fire Company, a 50 plus year member of the Bristol Democratic Town Committee, Bristol Cup Defenders, Bristol Tri-Centennial Committee, VP Italo-American Club, Bristol Elks Lodge, BPOE#1860, and the Bristol Council, Knights of Columbus. He was an avid Red Sox and NE Patriots fan, and for years, he would take great joy playing Santa Claus for numerous childrens causes. He loved everyone, and everyone loved him. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at 10:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in St. Elizabeths Church, 577 Wood Street, Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visiting hours will be Tuesday, September 25, 2018 from 4:00-7:00 PM.
