Mr Joseph Camera

Mr. Joseph 'Hooky' Camera, age 89, of 27 Paull Street, Bristol, died Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence. He was the husband of the late Rose (Alfano) Camera. Born in Bristol and a lifelong resident, he was a son of the late Francesco and Carmela (Proto) Camera. Joseph was a graduate of Colt Memorial High School, Class of 1941 and served in the US Navy during WWII as a radar operator aboard the USS Monterey in the Pacific Theatre. He worked in the Inventory Control department for over 30 years for the Dixon-Furon Corp in Bristol retiring in 1988. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Bristol was an avid bowler and golfer and a member of the Benjamin Church Manor Senior Center and a former member of the Cup Defender Association. Joseph was an umpire for many years for the Men's Softball League in Bristol. He is survived by a son, Joseph P. Camera and his wife, Susan A., a granddaughter, Kathryn M. Paul and her husband, David J. Jr., all of Bristol. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters, Christine Camera, Anna Gammons, Catherine Camera, Madeline Bisbano and Mary Camera and a brother, Pasquale Camera. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Saturday, June 9, 2012 at 9:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State Street, Bristol. Burial will follow in North Burial Ground, Hope Street, Bristol. Visiting hours, Friday, June 8, 2012 from 4:00-7:00 PM.
