Mr Joseph Borges

Mr. Joseph 'Bucky' Borges, age 88, formerly of Charles Street, Bristol, died Saturday, December 24, 2011 at the Grace Barker Nursing Center, Warren. He was the loving husband of Mary Alice (Cadima) Borges. Born in Bristol and a lifelong resident he was a son of the late Marcelino and Theresa Mary (Silvia) Borges. Joseph worked as a rubber worker for the former Converse Rubber Company formerly in Bristol for many years. Joseph proudly served his country in the US Navy during WW II. He was a member of the Bristol Fire Department Eveready Fire Co., he loved bowling and golfing and was a sports enthusiast and member of the Bristol High School Football “Chain Gang” for many years. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeths Church, Bristol. Joseph is survived by his two sons, Bradley J. Borges of Bristol and Ronald P. Borges of New York, his grandchildren, Bradley J. Borges, Jr., Kristen M. Borges, Allison Borges and Michael Borges, all of Bristol, two great grandchildren, Kylie K and Zachary J. Borges and a sister Phoebe Borges of Bristol. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Gordon, five sisters, Albertina Travers, Germaine Borges, Mary Ash, Gloria Borges and Irene Cardoza and three brothers, George, Ernest and David Borges. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Thursday, December 29, 2011 at 10:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in St. Elizabeths Church, 577 Wood Street, Bristol. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visiting hours Thursday Morning only from 9:00-10:00 AM.
