Mr Joseph Almeida

Mr. Joseph Almeida, age 85 of Perry Street, Bristol, died peacefully Sunday, September 22, 2019 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Inpatient Center, Bristol. He was the husband of Dorothy (Cavallaro) Almeida, his wife of 60 years. Born in Bristol and a lifelong resident, he was a son of the late Frank Almeida and Catherine (Palma) Almeida Viera. He was a graduate of Colt Memorial High School, Bristol and received his Associates Degree from the New England Radio and Technological School. He served in the US Navy during peacetime between the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was an Electronics Technician for the Barber-Coleman Corporation based out of Rockford, IL as the Field Service Representative in the Rhode Island and great New England territory. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Bristol. He was a bugler for many area Drum and Bugle Corps, including the Kingsmen, Rangers, Cavaliers and the Musketeers. He always had a love of being on the waters surrounding Bristol boating. Joe was well known for his riding his vesper scooter all over Bristol during his retirement years. He is survived in addition to his wife by two sons, Kenneth Almeida of Bristol and Paul J. Almeida (Lynn) of Cranston, a grandson, Andrew K. Almeida of Cranston and a brother, John Almeida (Mary Ann) of East Providence. He was preceded in death in addition to his parents by a brother, Frank Almeida, Jr. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Thursday, September 26, 2019 at 10:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State Street, Bristol. Burial will follow in North Burial Ground, Hope Street, Bristol. Visitation will be Thursday morning only from 9:00-10:00 AM.
