Mr. John H. Wilson, age 95 of Third Street, Bristol, died Thursday, November 19, 2015 at St. Elizabeths Manor, Bristol. He was the husband of Mary J. (DiMauro) Wilson, his wife of 74 years. Born in Atlanta, Louisiana, a son of the late Josh and Pauline (Strickland) Wilson. John was a Chief Pharmacists Mate during WWII in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater where he was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation with 1 star. He was a supervisor for the former George Dahl Company in Bristol for over 20 years, retiring in 1983. He had previously worked at the former Carr Fulflex Company and the US Rubber Company. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Bristol and a member of the Anthony C. Almeida Post # 237, V.F.W. and a charter member of the Cup Defenders Association. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, John H. Wilson, Jr. (Nancy) of Bonita Springs, FL, four grandchildren, Josh Wilson (Emily), Amy Stefanowski (Bob), Cindy Kosh (Dean) and Jenn Wilson, nine great grandchildren, Lauren, Rachel, Megan, Molly, Noah, John, Abby, Jack and Josie, three sisters, Willie Mae Smith, Isabelle Rapoli and Alice Briley, all of Louisiana and his niece and special caregiver, Frances M. Principe. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Paul W. Wilson and sisters, Joyce LaCour and Mary Simmons. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 9:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State Street, Bristol. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visitation will be Saturday morning only beginning at 9:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Elizabeths Manor “Patient Activities Fund”, 1 Dawn Hill Road, Bristol, RI 02809.
