Mr. John Brown, Jr., age 83 of 511 Metacom Avenue, Bristol, died Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Eva H. (Bullock) Brown who preceded him in death in 2004. Born in Bristol and a lifelong resident, he was a son of the late John and Mary (Ciampaglia) Brown. John was a pipefitter at the Newport Navy Base in Newport for 10 years, retiring in 1993. He had previously worked for Rico Header Tools, the Bristol School Department and Bristol Manufacturing Company. Mr. Brown served as a Private First Class in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeths Church, Bristol, a member of the Cup Defenders Association and he was an avid outdoorsman, enjoy both fishing and hunting. He also raised wild fowl, water fowl and fancy pigeons. He is survived by four sons, Kenneth, Kevin, Steven and William Brown, and a brother, Albert Brown. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Brown. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service with Military Honors on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at 1:00 PM in North Burial Ground, Hope Street (Route 114), Bristol.
