Mr John Balzano

Mr. John Balzano, age 42 of 116 DeWolf Avenue, Bristol, died Monday, October 4, 2010 at Newport Hospital, surround by his loving family. Born in Fall River, MA and a lifelong resident of Bristol, he was a son of Cecelia (Carvalho) Balzano of Bristol and the late John S. 'Jeep' Balzano. John owned and operated the Balzano Construction Company, Inc. of Bristol for 15 years. He previously worked for the Marino Construction Co. He was a graduate of Bristol High School, Class of 1986 and served as a Sergeant in the RI National Guard for 16 years in Battery C, 1st Battalion of the 103rd Field Artillery Unit. John was devoted to his family and loved going to movies with his daughter, Patricia. He was an exceptional cook and especially enjoyed making his dad's baked beans and clam casino. He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, Bristol, was a member and Captain of the 'Nice Rack' Pool League for a number of years, played in the Hopeworth Bocce League and enjoyed attending Hopeworth Neighborhood parties and events and was on the Hi Low Jack Team at the Eveready Fire Co., all in Bristol. He was a thoughtful and kind friend and always a man of great integrity in all that he did. In addition to his mother, he is survived by a daughter, Patricia A. Balzano of Bristol, a sister, Blair A. Dugan and her husband, John P. and a niece, Alicia Dugan and a nephew, Michael Dugan, all of Warren. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Monday, October 11, 2010 at 9:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Mary's Church, 330 Wood Street, Bristol. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visiting hours, Sunday, October 10, 2010 from 2:00-6:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the John Balzano Education Fund, Citizens Bank, C/O Goretti Pacheco, 464 Hope Street, Bristol, RI 02809.
