Mr. Jerome M. Bully Squatrito, age 81 of 19 Gorham Place, Bristol, passed away peacefully, Sunday, May 14, 2023 at his home, surrounded by his loving wife and family. He was the husband of Tonella P. (Pereira) Squatrito, his wife of 60 years. Born in Bristol and a lifelong resident, he was a son of the late Fortunato J. Foote and Elizabeth L. (Ascoli) Squatrito. Jerome was a graduate of Colt Memorial High School, Bristol, class of 1959, attended Cranwell Prep School in 1960 where he played baseball and football, and received his Bachelors Degree from Georgetown University in 1964, where he also was a member of the baseball team. He was a Production Manager for the Raytheon Corporation in Portsmouth, for 37 years, retiring in 2002. He was a communicant of St. Marys Church, Bristol. During his time in Bristol, he was the President of the King Phillip Little League (1980-1984), a referee in Bristol amateur basketball and touch football leagues (1969-1979), won the Raiola Award in his senior year of high school, was elected to the Bristol High School Hall of Fame, and a was frequent visitor to many of Bristols fine restaurants. One of his biggest interests was to attend with his wife his sons and grandchildrens youth league games, throughout Bristol, the state of Rhode Island, and New England. You could always see them behind the backstop of nearly every baseball field in the state. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, J. Michael Squatrito, Jr. (Lea), Stephen P. Squatrito (Lynn), Peter J. Squatrito (Kathleen), five grandchildren, Devin Squatrito, Samantha Angel, Kayla, Krista and Christian Squatrito, a brother Robert J. Squatrito (Margaret), a sister, Anna Mae Boyer (Dennis) and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, JoAnn Quito (the late Peter). Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial, Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at 10:00 AM in St. Marys Church, 330 Wood Street, Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Jeromes family will be greeting family and friends at St. Marys Church that morning starting at 9:30 AM.
