Master Chief Boilerman James R. 'Jim' Lake, US Navy (Retired), age 83, of 48 Duffield Road, Bristol, died Saturday, July 25, 2015 in Rhode Island Hospital, Providence, surrounded by his loving wife and family. He was the husband of Theresa G. (Meiggs) Lake, his wife of 57 years. Born in South Muddy Township, Illinois and a resident of Bristol since 1957, he was a son of the late Hallie and Edna (Parker) Lake. Jim served in the US Navy for over 20 years including during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War, retiring in 1971 as a Master Chief Boilerman. Following his retirement he was the building engineer for the First Hartford Realty Corporation and then the Property Manger for Amica Insurance Company in Providence, retiring in 1989. He was a graduate of New England Technical College and continued his education at Roger Williams College in Bristol with two years of study in Power Engineering. Jim was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, Bristol, a member of the Bristol County Lodge Knights of Columbus, Bristol, and a member of the Anthony C. Almeida Post # 237, V.F.W., Bristol. Along with his wife, he enjoyed Square Dancing for over 20 years and they were members of the Dancing Squares of Riverside. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Bristol Golf Course and an avid bowler he was a member of the Men's League for many years at Dudek's Bowling Alley in Warren. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Lois L. Teitz (Andrew) of Barrington and Robert A. Lake (Janet) of Lincoln, Six grandchildren, Erica M., Katelyn, and Jaclyn Lake, Elizabeth R. Teitz, Robert J. Lake and Alexandra Teitz. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Yates, and three brothers, John W., Guy and Neil Lake. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at 9:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in St. Mary's Church, 330 Wood Street, Bristol. Burial with Military Honors will follow in North Burial Ground, Hope Street, Bristol. Visitation will be Wednesday morning only from 9:00-10:00 AM.
