Mr James V. Doherty

Mr. James V. Doherty, age 80, of Bristol, died Saturday, October 29, 2011 at the Brigham and Womens Hospital, Boston, surrounded by his loving family after a long illness. James was the loving husband of Patricia Ann (Fay)Doherty, his wife of 56 years. Born in Warren, and a Bristol resident for most of his life, he was a son of the late Edward L. and Margaret G. (McDonald)Doherty. James was a Business Service Agent for Verizon for many years before retiring. He was a USNavy Veteran during the Korean War. James was a communicant of St. Mary's Church. He played semi-pro football in Bristol he had a great love for sports. He loved going dancing with his beautiful wife Patricia Ann. Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Sharon A. Doherty of Barrington and James P. Doherty of Bristol, his loving granddaughter, Kathleen A. Villari of Barrington, two sisters, Margaret A. Cary of Rangley ME, Gloria E. Kenefick of Falmouth, MA and Casey his loving dog. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Florence R. Daigneault. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Friday at 9:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AMin St. Mary's Church, 330 Wood Street, Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visiting hours Thursday from 4:00-8:00 PM.
