Mr James J. Abenante

Mr. James J. Abenante, age 80 of Bristol, died Thursday, June 21, 2012 at his home. He was the husband of the late Grace (Notorangelo)Abenante. Born in Bristol and a lifelong resident, he was a son of the late Raffaele and Marina Carmina (Abenante)Abenante. He served in the USNavy during the Korean War. He was a machine operator at the former Minor Industries formerly in Bristol and also he was the former owner, along with his late wife, of the former Dry Dock Seafood Restaurant formerly in Newport. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Bristol, he was an avid swimmer, biker, runner and cook and also loved to draw, paint and going clamming. He is survived by a daughter, Joann Carlson of Newport, a son, James J. Abenante, Jr. of Bristol, two grandchildren, Stacy A. Barnaby of Strafford, CT, a grandson, Jacob Abenante, of Bristol, two great grandchildren Taylor Grace and Christian Barnaby, and a brother John Abenante. Besides his wife and parents he was preceded in death by three sisters, Theresa DeFusco, Carmella Bisbano, Bridget O'Gara and six brothers, Louis, Ralph, Joseph, Frank, Anthony and Pasquale Abenante. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Monday, June 25, 2012 at 9:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State Street, Bristol. Burial with military honors will follow in St. mary's Cemetery, Bristol. Visiting hours Sunday, June 24, 2012 from 3:00-6:00 PM.
