Mr Herbert N. Deveau

Mr. Herbert N. 'Herb' Deveau, age 70, of 12 Lang Avenue, Bristol, died unexpectedly Monday, May 26, 2014 at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence. He was the husband of Theresa 'Terry' (Cruz) Deveau, his wife of 25 years. Born in Ohio, Nova Scotia, Herb was a resident of Bristol since 1972 previously residing in Pawtucket. Herb was the owner and operator of Herb's Shellfish of Bristol for 18 years, retiring in 1996. He had previously worked as a self employed Quahoger for a number of years. He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, Bristol. Herb was a Lieutenant Colonel in the Bristol Train of Artillery, where he had been a member since 1984. He was a former Boy Scout Leader for Troop 6, Bristol, was a well known 'Bake Master' in the Bristol area and enjoyed playing Santa Claus for many years, to the delight of many young children. He is survived in addition to his wife, by four children, Amy B. Vedro (Christopher) of Swansea, MA, Abby R. Paon (Matthew Sutton) of South Kingstown, Kimberly A. Micallef (Steven) of North Providence and Nicholas J.C. Deveau (Ashley Taylor) of Bristol, five grandchildren, Althea E. Vedro, Hailey E. Micallef, Scarlett E. Vedro, Brooke A. Micallef and Tanner M. Deveau and many extended family members in Canada. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 9:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Mary's Church, 330 Wood Street, Bristol. Immediately following Mass there will be Bristol Train of Artillery Honors conferred upon Herb as his casket leaves St. Mary's Church. Burial will be private.
