Mr Glendon E. Shorey

Command Sgt. Major Glendon E. Shorey, US Army Retired, age 82 of 10 Greenlawn Avenue, Warren, died Thursday, October 25, 2012 at the Miriam Hospital, Providence, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Mary J. (Castro) Shorey. Born and raised in Unity, Maine, he was the son of the late Clyde E. and Manilla B. (Reynolds) Shorey. A resident of Warren since 1960, he previously resided in Bristol for several years. He was a Command Sergeant Major in the US Army and Army Reserves for 27 years, retiring in 1977. Following his retirement from the Army he was a General Manager for the former Maisano Brothers Oil and Heating Company in Bristol for 31 years, retiring from them in 1991. An avid bowler, he was involved for many years in duck pin leagues at Dudek's Alley in Warren. He is survived by a daughter, Gwendolyn M. Day of Warren, two grandchildren, Denyse M. Dias and her husband Michael of Swansea, and Nathan A. Shorey of Cranston and two great granddaughters, Emma R. and Olivia B. Dias, two brothers, Robert E. Shorey of Fairfield, ME and Aaron L. Shorey of Barrington. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Glendon R. Shorey, three brothers, C. Norman, George H. and Arnold L. Shorey, seven sisters, Cleo H. Graham, Velma E. MacDonald, Maxine L. Gecawich, Dawn, Gwendolyn P. and Barbara Shorey and Joyce Miller. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation, Monday, October 29, 2012 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM in the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol. A Graveside Service and burial with Military Honors will be held Saturday, November 3, 2012 in Pond Cemetery in Unity, Maine.
