Mr. Gerald P. Romano, age 78 of Bristol, died peacefully Monday, October 3, 2016 at the Silver Creek Manor, Bristol, which he owned and was the administrator of for 34 years, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Patricia Mary (Botelho) Romano, his wife of 55 years. Born in Providence and a lifelong resident of Bristol, he was a son of the late Jeremiah W. and Anne (McCloskey) Romano. A graduate of Colt Memorial High School, Class of 1956 and Bryant College in 1960. He served in the RI National Guard for 8 years. In addition to Silver Creek Manor, he previously worked for the Converse Rubber Company formerly in Bristol and the Kaiser Aluminum and Chemical Corporation formerly in Bristol and Portsmouth. He was a 30 year member and a Past President for 2 years for the RI Health Care Association. He served his town of Bristol as a member of the Bristol Housing Authority for 31 years being their chairman for 16 years, a member of the Bristol Democratic Town Committee for over 50 years and was a member for 22 years for the Bristol Fourth of July Committee being their General Chairman in 1978 and 1979. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Bristol. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Kimberly A. Ciociola (John) of Bristol and a son, Jay Romano of Barrington and four grandchildren; Kathryn E. Geagan (Matthew) of Norwood, MA, Matthew M. Ciociola of Barrington, Kyler R. and Kaden A. Romano of Barrington and a great grandson, Aiden W. Geagan. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Friday, October 7, 2016 at 9:30 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State Street, Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visiting hours will be Thursday, October 6, 2016 from 4:00-7:00 PM.
