Mr. Gaetano “Keyday” Castigliego, age 97 of 25 Roma Street, Bristol, died Friday, November 6, 2015 at Philip Hulitar Hospice Inpatient Center, Providence, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Bristol and a lifelong resident, he was a son of the late Matteo and Luigina (Murgo) Castigliego. Gaetano was a Tec 4, Purple Heart Army Veteran during WWII in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. He was a self employed fisherman retiring in 1980. Keyday was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, a life member of the Anthony C. Almeida Post # 237, V.F.W., life member of the RI Chapter # 15, D.A.V., a life member of the Bristol County Lodge of Elks # 1860, a life member of the Cup Defenders and a member of the Purple Heart Veterans Association of RI. He is survived by a brother, Domenic Castigliego and a sister, Marie Pirri, both of Bristol, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Annie Salvaggi, Lucy DelPiano and Sue Salcone and five brothers, Nicholas, Paul, Cosmo, Damiano Castigliego and Matteo Castigliego Jr. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial, Thursday, November 12, 2015 at 10:00AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State Street, Bristol. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
