Mr. Fredric Archie Rounds, age 78, of Colonial Road, Bristol, died Friday, October 7, 2011 at The Philip Hulitar Center Inpatient Facility, Providence surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Louise W. (Willard) Rounds, his wife of 55 years. Born in Providence and a lifelong Bristol resident, he was the son of Louise E. (Swett) Rounds of Bristol and the late Archie Rounds. Educated in Bristol he was a graduate of Colt Memorial High School, Class of 1951, he furthered his education by taking courses at both University of RI and Brown University. He was employed for more than 30 years at the Dixon Corp until his loss of vision forced him to retire in 1984, as Manager of Sales Service. He was an active communicant of St. Michael's Episcopal Church, Bristol where he had formerly served on the Vestry, a long time member of the Senior Choir, an Annual Appeal volunteer for many years, member of the Foyer Groups and a Lay Eucharistic Minister with the church's visitation program for over 20 years. He was one of the original group to clear land and restore buildings at the Episcopal Conference Center in Pascoag in 1950-1951. He was an organist for the former Trinity Church in Bristol and for the Episcopal Church in Somerset, MA for several years. Fredric was a past senior active member of the Bristol Rotary Club and twice was the past Noble Grand of the Independant Order of Odd Fellows. He was a former member of the Bristol County Interfaith Choir for many years and a member of the Barrington Senior Chorus. He was a volunteer for the RSVP program at the Bristol Visitors Center for a few years and a member of the Bristol Library's Book Club for the past two years. He was the co-leader of the local support group of Insight for many years and a supporter of their talking book distribution program. He was an avid reader, enjoyed his pipe and slippers, sitting in his favorite Morris chair listening to music with his dog at his side or spending many hours on his porch in his rocker. He loved doing carpentry work around his home and spending hours doing clock restoration. In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his three children, Brad Rounds, Thomas Rounds and his wife Kirsten and Martha Watson and her husband Erik, seven grandchildren, Matthew, Brian, Anika and Graham Rounds and Rebecca, Julia and Daniel Watson. He also is survived by an aunt, Louise Rounds Perry in Santa Cruz, CA and several cousins. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Requiem Eucharist Service, Friday, October 14, 2011 at 9:00 AM in St. Michael's Episcopal Church, Hope and Church Streets, Bristol, RI. Burial will follow in North Burial Ground, Hope St., Bristol. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
