Mr Frederick Souza

Mr. Frederick Souza, age 82 of Warren and formerly of Bristol for most of his life, died Sunday, March 6, 2016 at Charlton Memorial Hospital, Fall River, MA. He was the husband of Marjorie E. (Amaral) Moniz Souza, his wife of 20 years. He was also the husband of the late Antoinette “Etta” (Cavallaro) Souza, who preceded him in death in 1994. Born and raised in Bristol, and a resident for many years, he was the son of the late Manuel A. and Alexandrina Hilda (Pimentel) Souza. Fred served in the US Air Force during the Korean War. Fred was the Service and Parts Manager for Cerrone Oldsmobile of South Attleboro, MA for over 10 years, retiring in 1992. He previously worked for many years as the Manager of the former Sherwin-Williams Paint Co. formerly on Main St., Warren. He was an avid golfer, playing for a number of years in the John Dickson league at Middlebrook Country Club. Fred also was huge Yankees Fan. He was a former member of the Bristol County Lodge of Elks and the West Barrington Mens Club. In addition to his wife, he leaves a son, Frederick D. “Bud” Souza (Sandra) and Louanne Mastriano (Anthony), both of Bristol, two step-children, Jay Moniz (Mary Anne) of Warren and Marjorie Moniz, of Newport, five grandchildren; Ashleigh, Elise and Oliver Warrender and Ryan and Jared Souza, and a great grandson, Parker Warrender and step grandchildren, Jason Moniz and Kelly Wingate (Matt) and a brother, Dennis Souza (Susan) of Warren. In addition to his first wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Souza. Funeral services were held from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Friday, March 11, 2016 at 9:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State Street, Bristol. The Rev. Henry P. Zinno was the Celebrant-Homilist for the Mass. Readers were grandchildren, Ashleigh Warrender and Ryan Souza, Offertory Gifts were presented by Daughter-in-law, Sandra Souza and son-in-law, Anthony Mastriano. Pierre Masse was the Organist-Soloist for the Mass. Burial with Military Honors by the US Air Force followed in St. Marys Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol, where Father Zinno read the comittal prayers. The follow gentlemen served as pallbearers, Ryan F. and Jared A. Souza, Oliver F. Warrender, Joseph Medeiros, Jason M. and Jay M. Moniz and Anthony Guida was the Honorary Pallbearer.
