Mr. Frank J. DeLeo, Sr. of Sandwich, MA died Sunday, August 5, 2012 after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's disease. Born in Bristol, RI on December 7, 1931, he was the son of Matteo and Mary DeLeo. He leaves behind his loving and faithful wife of 58 years, Josephine 'Joey'(Vitello) DeLeo and two sons, Thomas F. DeLeo and Frank J. DeLeo, Jr., both of Sandwich, MA. Mr. DeLeo also had six loving grandchildren, Frank, Nicholas and Gina of Sandwich and Andrew, Melissa and Anna Lee of Colorado, along with two brothers Matthew M. DeLeo and Michael G. DeLeo both originally from Bristol. After receiving honorable discharge from the US Navy during the Korean Conflict, Frank graduated with a BA degree from Providence College, attaining the Who's Who Among Colleges and University designation in 1957. He joined the Life Insurance Industry after graduating and spent the next 35 years managing, selling and creating lifetime relationships. Mr. DeLeo managed for the first 20 years as Assistant Manager for The Metropolitan in Newport, RI. He then moved to Hingham, MA in 1963, where he served as General Manager for both Acacia Mutual and Phoenix Mutual's Boston offices for the next 10 years. He returned to personal production in 1974 and attained Hall of Fame status with the Phoenix over the next 12 years of his career. In Hingham, Frank was an active member of his Catholic faith, at the Resurrection Parish. He spent countless hours coaching youth in Hingham Pop Warner football, John Barker Basketball and Hingham Little League and Babe Ruth baseball leagues from 1966 to 1977. Frank semi-retired with Joey and moved to Vero Beach, Florida in 1986 and fully retired in 1992 before returning to Sandwich in 2006. As was the case in both Rhode Island and Massachusetts, Frank loved creating new relationships and enjoyed his life and new friendships in Vero Beach.
