Mr. Frank C. Caizzi, age 88, of 5 Gorham Place, Bristol, died peacefully on Saturday, May 1 at the RI Veterans Home, Bristol. He was the husband of Margaret (Vaccaro) Caizzi, his wife of 69 years. Born in Bristol and a lifelong resident, he was the son of the late Gaetano and Maria (Ruggieri) Caizzi. He was a graduate of Colt Memorial High School, class of 1940 and attended extension course at U.R.I. He was an employee of Fulflex, Inc. for 37 years and worked as a research lab technician. He was a veteran of WWII, serving with the 76th Infantry Division attached to the 3rd Armor Division in the European Theater of operation. Frank was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and served as a lector and a 16th of July Feast Celebration volunteer for many years. He was a past president of the former Holy Name Society at the church. Frank was also a member of the RI Rubber Club, the American Society for Quality Control, the Fulflex Bowling League and the Senior Bowling League. He was a member of the Sons of Italy, Leonardo Da vinci Lodge. An avid reader, he encouraged young people he knew to read, reminding them that “knowledge is reading and reading is knowledge and power.” He is survived in addition to his wife, by his son, Frank Cazzi, Jr. and his wife Patricia of Bristol, his daughter Kathleen Caizzi, M.D. and her companion, John Pellegrini, M.D. of Whitesburg, Kentucky, three grandchildren, David Caizzi and his wife, Susan, Debra Messenger and her husband James, and Carolyn Caizzi. Also surviving are four great grandchildren, Michael and Alex Caizzi and Lucy and Harry Messenger. He was the brother of the late Catherine Parella, Rose Andrade, Lena Johnson, Florence Moniz, Angelina St. Angelo, and Ernest, Thomas, Ralph and Anthony Caizzi. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at 8:30 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State Street, Bristol. Burial with Military Honors will follow in North Burial Ground, Hope Street, Bristol. Visitation will be Tuesday morning only at 8:30 AM.
