Mr. Florentino P. Jardinez, Jr., age 79 of Hampden Drive, Bristol, died Monday, May 30, 2016 at Newport Hospital. He was the husband of Teresa (Cacal) Jardinez, his wife of 50 years. Born on the Philippine Islands, he was a son of the late Florentino and Maria (Pacleb) Jardinez, Sr. Florentino served in the US Navy for 20 years, starting his service during the Vietnam War and retiring as a MS first class in May of 1982. During his Navy years he served abroad the USS Dash and had received the Meritorious Unit Commendation, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon and the Battle Efficiency Ribbon. Following his retirement he was a Civil Service employee at the Newport Navy Base for over 15 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening at his home and spending time fishing. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Carol J. King (William) of Oak Ridge, NC, two granddaughters, Amy Jade King and Ashley Joy King, two brothers, George Jardinez of Virginia Beach, VA and Manuel Jardinez of West Warwick, a sister, Soledad Blanco of West Warwick. He was preceded in death in addition to his parents by a brother, Edwin Jardinez and two sisters, Alice Miller and Linda Jardinez. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation Saturday morning, June 4, 2016 starting at 8:30 AM in the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State Street, Bristol.
