Mr David L. Bidwell

Mr. David L. Bidwell, age 87, of 45 Aaron Avenue, Bristol, died Thursday, October 17, 2013 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Inpatient Center, Providence. He was the husband of the late Wilma (Kokoschke) Bidwell. Born in New Haven, CT. and a Bristol resident for many years, he was a son of the late Everett B. and Nellie (Porter) Bidwell. He served in the US Marine Corps as a Corporal during WWII in the Pacific Theater including the Battle at Iwo Jima. He was an Electrical Inspector for the Underwriters Laboratory for 40 years, retiring in 1991. He was an active member of St. James Lutheran Church in Barrington. He was an amateur Ham Radio Operator, he enjoyed Boating, traveling along the Eastern Coast of the United States and building houses. He is survived by two children, Kendra J. Ferreira and her husband, Paul of Bristol and Todd D. Bidwell and his wife, Jennifer of Bethel, CT, five grandchildren, Paul Ferreira, Jr., Christian and Stefan Ferreira, Joshua and Jacob Bidwell, and a brother, Glenn Bidwell of East Hartford, CT and Cape Coral, FL. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Everett Bidwell, Jr. and Daniel Bidwell. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation, Monday morning, October 21, 2013 from 8:00 - 10:00 AM in the St. James Lutheran Church, 49 Middle Highway, Barrington, RI with a Funeral Liturgy at 10:00 AM there in the church. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Swan Point Cemetery, Blackstone Blvd., Providence, RI.
