Mr Caesar Menezes

Mr. Caesar Menezes, age 98 of Bayview Avenue, Bristol died Sunday, December 11, 2011 at the Evergreen Nursing Home in East Greenbush, NY. He was the husband of the late Mary (Botelho) Menezes. Born in St. Michael's, the Azores and immigrating to Bristol at age 12, he was a son of the late Procopio and Beatrice (Cabral) Menezes. He was a machine mechanic and textile worker for the former Collins and Aikman Co. and various mills in the Rhode Island area for 50 years, retiring in 1978. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth's Church, Bristol and played with the Portuguese Independence Band and a member of the band club for many years. He is survived by two children, Evelyn A. McCabe and her husband, Joseph of Castleton, NY and Ronald L. Menezes and his wife, Karen of Portsmouth, six grandchildren, Mark, Kelli, Kristen, Ronald, Jr., Derek and Benjamin and seven great grandchildren, Kay Leigh, Abby, Michael, Samantha, Kassidy, Aiden, Jozef, James Caesar and Ella. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Procopio Menezes, and six sisters, Beatrice Salerno, Lucy Furtado, Mary Cordeiro, Christina Aguiar, Aldina Silvia and M. Margaret Mederos. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at 10:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in St. Elizabeth's Church, 577 Wood Street, Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visitation Wednesday morning only at 10:00 AM.
