Mr Bernard L. Tortorice

Mr. Bernard L. Tortorice, age 92 of Briarfield Road, Barrington and formerly of Bristol, died peacefully on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at his home. He was the husband of Rosemarie (Chirico) Tortorice, his wife of 54 years, who preceded him in death in 2001. Born and raised in Bristol, he was a son of the late Louis B. and Adeline (Brunelli) Tortortice. Bernard was a Sergeant in the US Army Air Corps during WWII. He was a graduate of Colt Memorial High School, Bristol, Class of 1942 and received his Bachelors of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering from Providence College in 1950. He was a Chemical Engineer for the Triangle Power and Cable Company in Jewett City, CT for over 20 years, retiring in 1992. He was a communicant of St. Lukes Church, Barrington and Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Bristol. He is survived by two sons; Lewis B. Tortorice of Barrington and Bernard M. Tortorice, MD of Sarasota, FL, three grandchildren; Bryan L. Tortorice of West Greenwich, Bernard R. Tortorice of West Point Academy, NY and Christine Marie Tortorice of Sarasoto, FL. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Louis B. Tortorice, Jr. and a sister, Johanna A. Vaughn. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at 9:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State Street, Bristol. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Chesntut Street, Bristol. Visiting hours Tuesday, June 28, 2016 from 4:00-7:00 PM.
