Mr. Bernard Adrian Demara, age 87 of Viking Drive, Bristol, died Sunday, November 6, 2016 in Grace Barker Nursing Center, Warren, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Esther M. (Migliori) Nutini-Demara, his wife of 31 years, who preceded him in death this past March and the late Rose (Calitri) Demara. Born and raised in Providence, he was a son of the late George and Germaine (Bobay) Demara. Bernard attended La Salle Academy in Providence. He served in the US Army during the Korean War and following the war was stationed in Germany and was part of the Presidential Honor Guard in Washington, DC, also during his army years he was a boxer, boxing under the name “Sonny Demara”. He was an Electronics Technician for the Raytheon Corp. in Portsmouth for 25 years, retiring in 1991. He enjoyed traveling, golfing and singing with the Bristol Senior Chorus. He is survived by his step-children; Robert Nutini (Paula) of Bristol, Dona Nutini (Cornele Overstreet) of Scottsdale, AZ and Mark Nutini (Jamie Ioos) of Phoenix AZ, three grandchildren; John Arnold of Providence, Gerald Nutini of Chesapeake, VA and Michael Nutini (Alexandra) of Warren, a brother, Raymond Demara (Lorraine) of Laurel Hill, FL, five great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. In addition to his wives, parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Demara and a sister, Eleanor Green. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 10:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State Street, Bristol. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visitation will be Saturday morning from 9:00 AM.
